Make a music video for a song written and recorded in one of the UK’s Immigration Detention Centres and get:

  • Reviewed by a panel of creative and cultural industry sector experts

  • Published on the Music In Detention YouTube channel

  • The chance to be distributed to Human Rights festivals in the UK and internationally

  • Your creative skills recognised and validated with CLOCK Professional Development Award in Creative & Cultural Industries (PDACCI) .

This is an opportunity to create a music video for one or more of the tracks recorded in detention. You can find the tracks here. The album Unheard Voices is MID’s best hits, but you can choose any track from the music player. Your video should fit to the length of the sound track, usually around 3-5 minutes.

Your video can use any style including animation. The idea behind it should come from the track and what you think and feel about it. Feel free to be experimental.

All videos will be shown on the MID website and publicised widely through MID and partners. A selection panel will choose the most interesting and well-made videos, which will be distributed to Human Rights and other film festivals. We will also negotiate screenings at cinemas including prior to showing mainstream movies.

Your work will help to amplify hidden detainee voices, and rasie awareness about immigration detention.

The Review Panel meets on the last Tuesday, quarterly: April | June | September | December

Deadline for submission of completed video is four weeks before the Review Panel meeting. Later submissions will be carried over to the next meeting.
